Having joined Liverpool from Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy in 2015, Bobby Adekanye one day hoped to be playing regular first team football at Anfield. Unfortunately for him, opportunities never came and the 20 year old decided to leave the club on a free transfer and join Lazio this summer.
Speaking to Inside Futbol, Adekanye said: “At Liverpool I would go with the first team to the United States, but after that be with the Under-23s again. I did not like that, so I decided to leave.”
His comments make for interesting reading, particularly given Liverpool are due to depart for the US in the next few days. There’s a number of very exciting prospects coming through Liverpool’s academy at the moment who will need to be, and have their expectations, managed properly.
We wish Adekanye nothing but the best at Lazio…who knows, maybe he’ll be back at Liverpool one day?
