Unfortuntaely 18 year old Paul Glatzel, who came on at half time in the preseason friendly against Tranmere on Thursday, suffered a serious injury during his time on the pitch. Having been substituted after 78 minutes with what appeared to be a knee injury, Klopp confirmed that the youngster was “seriously injured.”
Speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp said, “Unfortunately, Paul Glatzel got seriously injured, which is a shame. He is a wonderful kid, a wonderful player, unbelievable. The week we saw him [at Melwood] helped already, so when he is back he will be one of my boys because I really like what I saw.”
It sounds like Klopp’s a big fan of the striker and will be making sure he’s around the squad when he comes back from injury…it could be a situation similar to Rhian Brewster’s last season. Liverpool are currently assessing the damage and will have an update on how long he’ll be out for soon.
