Player ratings – LFC vs Southampton
By Luca Costello: @lfc.newshq
Adrian: 6
Made a few reasonably good stops from time to time, but was reckless and put it on a plate for Danny Ings.
Trent Alexander Arnold: 6
Effective going forward but again was troubled in defence, something he may need to work on.
Joel Matip: 7
Did well at the back today, cleaned up any mistakes but nearly got caught out.
Virgil Van Dijk: 8
Very strong as always and cleaned up any errors throughout the game.
Andy Robertson: 7
Was dangerous going forward and nearly scored at one point but was reckless at times.
Gini Wijnaldum:
Was comfortable on the ball yet sloppy in possession at times, but enjoyed his run out on the pitch.
James Milner: 6
Was energetic throughout and came into a head collision early on, but made one or two bad passes.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 7
He was in the midfield role today and looked comfortable on the ball and was more eager than midweek.
Mohamed Salah: 6
Didn’t quite seem to come into the game often and couldn’t finish his chances. Was later replaced.
Roberto Firmino: 8
Played very well in the deeper role and was rewarded for his work ethic with a goal in the second half.
Sadio Mane: 8
Scored an absolute stunner in the first half and was very good as always on the left flank.
