According to French outlet Foot Mercato, as reported by Inside Futbol, New Balance are ready to break the bank to secure the kit deal they have with Liverpool Football Club for much longer.
As rumours swirl that Nike are in advanced with Liverpool over a long term kit deal that would break all sorts of sponsorship records, however New Balance “believe they must keep hold of Liverpool and cannot afford to lose the Reds from their books.”
Whilst Liverpool currently earn £45 million a year from the New Balance partnership, Nike are willing to pay more than Adidas pay Manchester United (£750 million over 10 years). However, New Balance “are claimed to have a preference clause in their agreement with Liverpool which means if they match the sum offered by competitors, such as Nike, they can retain the Reds.”
So, New Balance or Nike?
